Sensitization Programs

CPPC conducts regular pocket meetings, awareness camps and training programs with the aim to sensitize the acute need for community based palliative care services.

Inpatient Care

ABHAYAM – Situated in the midst of a sprawling 3.6 acre serene atmosphere surrounded by the nature’s beauty is the 9000 sq ft 40 bedded infrastructure unit of Chennai Pain and Palliative Care in the outskirts of chennai that offers in-patient pain management and relief.

Rehabilitation

We care for you and your family – When the bread winner of the family falls ill and comes to a point where he/she can no longer lead a normal life, the entire scenario in their home changes with poverty striking its deadly blow. We at CPPC help them into look for the right option and extend our support to rehabilitate their livelihood in the right manner and provide solace to the entire family.

Bereavement Support

We are there for You – Not only during the catastrophic ailment, but also when the patient succumbs to the ailment our care and bereavement support team is there for you during the bereavement and even after, until normalcy is restored in the family by extending our support not only in children’s education and/or finding a new job to the kith n kin of the patient but at times even till their wards are married off.

Our Vision

To establish as many Community Based Palliative Care (CBPC) centers of Chennai Pain and Palliative Care all over Tamilnadu, thereby by involving people from the society and indulge them in serving the less privileged patients in their surroundings and also to introduce palliative care centers in their areas until we reach out to the last deserving patient by the year 2025.

Our Goal

To continuously strive hard until we reach out to the last deserving patient in this society and extend not only our CARE, COMFORT and COMPASSION, but also to bring in the amendments in the National Health Care policies that are reiterated year after year to ensure secure access to opioids for pain relief, training for health care staffs in palliative care and the integration of Palliative Care services in to the existing health care systems.

WHO’s Definition on PALLIATIVE CARE- 2017

Palliative Care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients & their families facing the problems associated with life threatening disease or illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems – Physical, Psychosocial and spiritual.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is a crucial part of integrated, people centered health services at all levels of care. It aims to relieve suffering, whether it’s a case of cancer, major organ failure, drug resistant TB, end stage chronic illness, extreme frailty of old age. According to WHO, in 2017, worldwide only 14% of people who need palliative care receive it.

At Chennai Pain and Palliative Care, we help with:

  • Physical symptoms such as pain, sickness and breathing difficulties
  • Emotional problems such as depression and anxiety
  • Spiritual care by giving space to express emotional, faith, non faith and religious views
  • Social issues such as support for relatives, relationship concerns and practical issues in addition to financial crisis.

Difference between
Palliative Care and Hospice Care

The Difference between Palliative Care and Hospice. Both palliative care and hospice care provide comfort. But palliative care can begin at diagnosis, and at the same time as treatment while Hospice care begins after treatment of the disease is stopped and when it is clear that the person is not going to survive the illness, thereby ensuring a quality life at their end of life.
